Oriental Motor USA has introduced a stainless steel brushless DC motor compatible with its BLE2 Series drivers, targeting applications that require corrosion resistance, washdown durability, and stable torque output in compact electromechanical systems.

Expanding BLDC Technology into Hygienic Environments
The newly released motor extends the BLE2 Series into operating environments where conventional aluminum or coated housings are unsuitable. Washdown conditions common in food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and packaging lines typically involve repeated exposure to high-temperature water, cleaning agents, and elevated pressure. To address these constraints, the motor uses a corrosion-resistant stainless steel housing and is rated for IP67 and IP69K ingress protection, enabling resistance to both temporary immersion and high-pressure spray cleaning.

Laser-printed labels are integrated into the housing to avoid degradation associated with adhesive labels under aggressive cleaning cycles, supporting hygienic equipment design principles.

Electrical Performance and Energy Efficiency
The motor is rated at 200 W (¼ HP) and operates as a brushless DC design, eliminating mechanical commutation wear and reducing maintenance intervals compared to brushed alternatives. Efficiency is specified as equivalent to IE5, indicating minimized electrical and thermal losses under continuous operation. This efficiency level supports lower energy consumption while maintaining consistent torque delivery across the motor’s operating range, which is particularly relevant in continuously running conveyor, dosing, and material handling systems.

Integrated Gearhead and Mechanical Design
A hollow shaft flat gearhead is integrated into the motor assembly, allowing direct mounting onto driven shafts without couplings. This configuration increases torque density while reducing axial space requirements. Available gear ratios include 10:1, 15:1, 20:1, 30:1, and 50:1, enabling speed-torque matching for applications ranging from low-speed indexing to moderate-speed conveying.

The motor and gearhead are offered as a factory-matched combination, which simplifies system design by ensuring mechanical compatibility and reducing alignment and installation time.

Driver Compatibility and System Integration
The stainless steel BLDC motor is designed for use with BLE2 Series drivers, specifically the BLE2D200-AS and BLE2D200-CS models. This compatibility allows the motor to be integrated into existing BLE2-based motion systems without changes to control architecture, supporting speed control and stable operation under variable load conditions.

Application Areas
The combination of IP69K protection, stainless steel construction, and high-efficiency BLDC operation makes the motor suitable for use in food and beverage processing equipment, pharmaceutical production lines, and other industrial systems where washdown compliance and long service life are required.
