FANUC Showcases Machining & Automation Solutions for the Racing Industry at PRI Show
FANUC America demonstrated its latest ROBODRILL Plus Vertical Machining Center and CRX Cobot at Performance Racing Industry in Indianapolis.

FANUC America demonstrated its high-performance vertical machining centers as well as easy-to-use welding collaborative robots at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show, Dec. 12-14 in Indianapolis, in booth #5659.
FANUC ROBODRILL Plus Vertical Machining Center
FANUC’s ROBODRILL α-DiB5 Plus vertical machining center comes available in three sizes (small, medium, and large) to accommodate a wide range of production operations. The ROBODRILL DiB5 Plus provides customers with unrivaled quality and precision features. A compact design with accessibility from all sides enhances overall efficiency for high-speed milling, drilling, and tapping applications.
Powered by the FANUC Plus Series 31i-B5 Control, the ROBODRILL DiB5 Plus provides unbeatable cycle times, tool change times as fast as 0.7 seconds, and a servo-driven turret capable of handling tools weighing up to 4 kg.
Because FANUC products share common servo and control platforms, the ROBODRILL Plus is easy to use as well as integrate FANUC robots for any automated machine tending application.
At PRI, FANUC’s ROBODRILL Plus were featured in two automated processes, including:
- High-Speed Impeller Machining: A FANUC ROBODRILL α-D14SiB5 Plus showcased high-efficiency machining of aluminum automotive impellers. The ROBODRILL was equipped with a Nikken BF3 for fast 5-axis simultaneous operations delivering an extremely high-quality finish.
- High-Efficiency Steel Machining: A FANUC ROBODRILL α-D21MiB5 ADV Plus paired with the DDR-TiB demonstrated high-speed 4-axis milling, drilling, and tapping on a block of steel. This application highlights the ability of the ROBODRILL Plus to perform multi-axis, heavy steel milling applications without sacrificing speed or capability.
- Easy-to-Use CRX Cobot: FANUC’s collaborative robots are easy to use and flexible solutions for companies looking to improve productivity and solve labor issues. FANUC’s entire series of CRX collaborative robots are reliable, flexible, and can work for up to eight years without maintenance.
At PRI, FANUC’s CRX-10iA/L simulated easy welding with hands-on demonstrations that showcase the intuitive programming of FANUC’s new cobot wrist buttons.
